Psalm 27:1
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
The Lord Himself is the believer’s light. He does not only give light—He is light. Without God, the soul lives in darkness and cannot see the way of truth or peace. When the Lord shines upon a person, darkness is driven away, and the path of life becomes clear.
The Lord gives light to the mind. By His truth, He teaches us who God is, who we are, and why we need a Savior. True understanding does not come from human wisdom, but from God alone. When He enlightens the heart, confusion is replaced with certainty.
The Lord also gives light to the conscience. He shows us our sin, not to destroy us, but to lead us to repentance. He exposes what is wrong so that we may run to Christ for mercy and forgiveness.
The Lord is not only light—He is salvation. If God revealed our sin without saving us, we would fall into despair. But He who shows us our lost condition also provides full salvation through Jesus Christ. In Him, sinners are forgiven, accepted, and kept safe forever.
Because the Lord is our light and salvation, fear has no rightful power over us. Troubles may come, enemies may rise, and death itself may approach, yet the soul that trusts in God is secure. The strength of the Lord is greater than every danger.
Let each person examine his own heart. Is the Lord truly my light? Do I walk in His truth? Do I rest in His salvation alone? Where God rules, darkness cannot remain, and where Christ saves, fear must fall.
Let
this confession be held firmly in every season of life:
“The
LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
