God’s Providence

1. God Is in Complete Control

God rules over everything He created. Nothing happens by chance. He guides all things—big and small—according to His perfect wisdom, power, and love.

2. God Works Through Ordinary Means

God usually carries out His plans through ordinary events:

3. God Works Above and Beyond Means

Sometimes God works in uncommon or miraculous ways—doing what normal means cannot do. These are rare, but they display His power and glory.

4. God Preserves All Things

God keeps everything alive and functioning. The world stays in order because God continually supports it.
Without His care, creation would fall apart.

5. God Governs All Things

Nothing happens outside God’s will—whether good events or difficult ones.
He directs all things toward the good of His people and the glory of His name.

6. God Is Not the Author of Sin

Even though God is in control of all things, He never causes sin or evil.
People sin freely from their own hearts.
Yet God can use even sinful actions to accomplish His good purposes—like He did in Joseph’s story and in the crucifixion of Jesus.

7. God Cares for His People in a Special Way

God watches over believers with particular love.
He guides, protects, disciplines, and provides for them as a Father cares for His children.

8. Providence Does Not Cancel Human Responsibility

God’s control does not remove our duty to obey, pray, work, and make wise choices.
Our actions matter and are truly meaningful—but God works through them to fulfill His plan.

9. Providence Leads Believers to Trust

Knowing that God is in control gives Christians:

We can rest in the truth that a wise and loving God directs every detail of our lives.
