The Ten Commandments

An Introduction to Ten Commandments (Do these Commandments apply to the Church today?)

Jesus warned that in the last days, “because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).

Lawlessness is not merely social disorder—it is the willful violation of God’s holy law. That law is most clearly revealed in the Ten Commandments, written by the very finger of God.

Yet today, many avoid preaching the Ten Commandments, dismissing them as outdated or irrelevant. This is a serious mistake.

The moral law of God is not a relic of the past—it is the very foundation of a healthy and just society. Where it is neglected, ignored, or silenced, the consequences are unmistakable: corruption spreads, violence increases, injustice prevails, and families fall apart.

More than that, the Ten Commandments expose the true condition of the human heart. They strip away self-righteousness, uncover our guilt before a holy God, and leave us without excuse. They do not save—but they point us to our desperate need for salvation, driving us to flee to the cross of Christ for mercy and grace.

In Romans 7 apostle Paul said, Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin, end of Romans 7 Paul continued by saying, Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

What follows is a clear and faithful presentation of the Ten Commandments from a biblical perspective, explained in a simple and understandable way—so that the church of God may be sanctified and God alone may be glorified.

Keep it in mind, the Ten commandments is only the seed, each commandment is a seed, and out of each seed comes a tree with branches of other sins related to the original sin, which should bring all kinds of conviction, guilt of sins, realizing God will punish sins and flee to the grace and mercy of Christ.
